Past Tense of Keep: Kept — and Why Sleep, Sweep Shorten the Same Way
The simple past and past participle of keep are both kept. The tricky part is that the final t sound disappears mid-sentence, so the whole tense gets packed into a vowel just a touch shorter than in keep.
